Do I need to buy a kit from you to join a class?
No. You simply join by ordering video packages. As soon as they are live, we’ll send you a password. We are offering KANA Clay and tools as an extra, to help you get set up and keep your experience at home exactly as you would have in our studio. You are very welcome to use your own tools and clay.*

About Clay
What clay is this?
Our clay is KANA Studio Stoneware.
It is a crank clay (this means it has a gritty texture making it perfect for handbuilding).
It fires to a sandy golden colour.
You will find this in many of our products, and it is the clay we use for all our classes.
This clay needs to be fired in a kiln, to 1200*C (see firing).
Once fired it is food and liquid safe (non-porous).
Will the clay get ruined if it leave it too long before firing?
No, definitely not. To fire clay, it needs to be bone dry. The drier the better. There is no problem at all in leaving your work several months to carefully dry out before bringing it to us for firing.
What is Air-Dry clay?
We don’t use air-dry clay in the studio, but are offering this as it might be a good option for you at home.
This doesn’t require a kiln. It fully dries in the air within 3-5 days.
However, it is not food or liquid safe, it can only be used for sculptural or art pieces (not for eating, drinking or getting wet in any way!).
Can I use my own clay?
Yes of course! Please use any clay you like. But please note WE CAN ONLY FIRE KANA CLAY BOUGHT FROM US. If you use your own clay, we will not be able to fire this for you. We cannot introduce any clay into our kilns that we haven’t rigorously tested and developed in combination with our kilns and glazes.
About Tools
What tools do I need?
Many things from around your home make great tools! But you can purchase a starter tool box – or specific tools for Ana’s masterclass. Please look through the Stay Home Clay Club shop page! Or gather things from home.
firing and glazing
How do I get my pieces glazed and fired?
For work made from KANA Clay ONLY, we are offering two options, either we glaze and fire your work for you, or you come to a glazing class
ADD ON: FIRE AND GLAZE BY US
Once your work is air-dried, deliver it to the studio (hand delivery is best as pieces will be very fragile at this stage).
We will bisque fire it for you (first fire). Then glaze it for you in Snow White glaze. Then fire it for you (second fire).
Pre-booking into this slot will give you FIRST priority on our glazing schedule. We add you to a queue and means you will get your finished pieces as soon as possible. Pre-booking now also means we will fire all the pieces you create from your 3kg clay.
ADD ON: FIRE AND GLAZE BY YOU
Once your work is air-dried, deliver it to the studio (hand delivery is best as pieces will be very fragile at this stage).
We will bisque fire it for you (first fire). Then once our doors open again, we will book you into a Student Glazing session.
Booking into this slot will give you FIRST priority on available Glazing Sessions once our studio reopens. Our studio will be very busy with classes and so these slots are first come first served. Booking this will add you to a queue and give you the first available options for you to attend a Glazing Session with us (these take place on Saturday afternoons, twice a month). Pre-booking now also means we will fire all the pieces you create from your 3kg clay.
Do I need to book glazing now? Can I book it later?
It’s totally fine to arrange glazing later on. Please note that if you don’t pre-book, you may have to wait a while even though we’ll work as fast as we can! Please also note that once pre-booking is closed, we will charge for firing and glazing based on the size of the pieces.
When will I receive my order?
Our tiny team is working around the clock to deliver all your orders!
Due to safety measures in the studio, and zero contact working hours, we are shipping once a week on Mondays.
Because we ship once a week on Mondays, depending on when you placed your order, it might be shipped the next Monday, or the Monday after, depending on orders ahead of you
As soon as your work has been shipped, you’re receive a confirmation email with a DHL tracking number. Please look out for this.

Setting up my space
How do I set up my space, is clay messy?
No, clay comes out of surfaces and clothes with just water. It’s very easy to clean. Ana will explain how to set up your perfect clay space in the first few free videos.
